| Elaine
Waters began oil painting in 1961 and has been enjoying it ever
since. She graduated from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, and
later pursued her art studies at the Universities of Alaska, Anchorage,
and Washington, Scottsdale Artists School and with various Alaska and
Arizona artists. As an Alaskan, her paintings were primarily
landscapes and subjects of the northern country. Moving to Arizona
in 1981, she began doing floral paintings and the southwest, enjoying
the excitement of new subject matter, using light and color in her
paintings.
Especially interesting to Elaine is the relationship of light and color and the visual effects that colors produce next to each other. Her landscapes, floral and still life paintings reflect her love for color with a touch of nostalgia. Her paintings have won many awards and are in many private and corporate collections. She is a member of SCOTTSDALE ARTISTS LEAGUE, PHOENIX ARTISTS GUILD, PEORIA FINE ART ASSOCIATION and a juried member of both the ARIZONA ARTISTS GUILD and the ARIZONA ART ALLIANCE. Elaine has been teaching oil painting since 1990 and enjoys teaching because she wants her students to increase their knowledge, skill and pleasure in producing art. She currently teaches oil painting at the Washington Adult Center, Beuf Community Center and at Freedom Plaza in Sun City, Arizona. |
